Parenting can be an incredibly difficult and lonely journey. Finding the time to prioritize not only the baby but yourself and your relationships can prove challenging.
I always knew being a mom was not easy but … did I really know? It wasn’t until I brought a newborn home that I realized “wow this parenting stuff is extremely underrated”. I found myself constantly stressed and pressed for time.
What is time anyways? I don’t have much of it anymore. I went from having all the time in the world to not even having time to brush my teeth. Every waking second has been dedicated to this little screaming human of mine now. All the emotions of being a new mom plus dealing with fluctuating postpartum hormones and trying to accept your body post baby was hard… BUT I am here to tell you it does get better.
Eventually you build a routine, learn to ask for help and swallow your pride. Managing my stress for those first 3 months was not easy but I eventually learned how. Finding time to do things for myself as well as supplementing with Stress Defy by Protea Nutrition helped immensely; It really assisted me in reducing and managing my stress levels naturally.
Taking Protea’s Baseline+ has also been beneficial in assisting my fluctuating postpartum hormones. Female sex hormones including estrogen and progesterone help conduct our sleep cycles and over all mood. Progesterone in particular, plays a crucial role in sleep quality due to the production of GABA which is a neurotransmitter that helps decrease activity in the nervous system. When progesterone levels are low, it leaves the body at risk for increased anxiety and fragmented sleep patterns. Since an overproduction of estrogen is so common, Baseline+ contains Diindolylmethane (DIM) which helps the body metabolize excess estrogen and helps prevent hormonal imbalance that can produce unpleasant side effects. To help raise low progesterone levels naturally, Baseline+ contains chaste tree berry extract which supports normal levels of progesterone. It can also help stabilize proper levels of estrogen as well.
It’s important to make sure you take time to relax and have some you-time for your emotional, mental and physical health! Caring for a newborn, not resting and being completely exhausted and stressed is just self destruction. I’ve found an hour a day doing some form of exercise and supplementing with the proper supplements has completely changed my mood.
The point is you never really know what you’re getting into as a parent until you are one. While it’s the most amazing experience it is without a doubt one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do and i’m just so thankful that Protea Nutrition has had my back!
