L-theanine has some amazing health benefits making it a vital ingredient in Stress Defy. It is a non-protein amino acid primarily found in green and black teas along with some mushrooms. It is said to increase levels of GABA, serotonin and dopamine.
In animal studies, theanine has been shown to stimulate GABA (A) receptors (Egashira et al., 2007), and oppose caffeine stimulation (Kakuda et al., 2000). Studies in humans are more rare. Supplementation with theanine has been shown to produce relaxing effects (Juneja et al., 1999), and improve stress tolerance (Kimura et al., 2007)
A study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry focused on people living with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. Researchers found that L-theanine decreased anxiety and improved symptoms.
L-theanine can also improve focus. When paired with caffeine, it may help increase focus and attention. A small study found that a combination of L-theanine (97mg) and caffeine (40mg) helped a group of young adults focus better during demanding tasks. The study’s participants also felt more alert and less tired overall.
Some research found on MDPI indicated that L-theanine can help promote better sleep which could be because it promotes a feeling of relaxation. Researchers found in one study that doses of 250mg and 400mg of L-theanine greatly improves sleep in animals and humans.
We strategically chose to include L-theanine in Stress Defy because it promotes a sense of calmness, reduces anxiety, promotes feelings of relaxation and can help improve sleep and focus.
