Licorice root is commonly utilized to treat digestive ailments like heartburn, indigestion, acid reflux, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), bacterial and viral infections while also protecting against certain types of cancer.
Several hundred plant compounds are found in licorice root, but the principal active compound is glycyrrhiza glabra which is responsible for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.
500mg of licorice root extract (glycyrrhiza glabra) has been added to GI Assist to help lower gastrointestinal distress and inflammation. Painful sores can develop in the stomach, lower esophagus, and small intestine, known as peptic ulcers. Ulcers are often caused by inflammation resulting from H. pylori bacteria. Flavonoids in licorice root may inhibit the growth of H. pylori and have a history with soothing inflamed and injured mucous membranes in the digestive tract.
Licorice root has been recommended by doctors for people with Crohn’s disease and assisting in the treatment of ulcerative colitis.
With incorporating licorice root extract into GI Assist, it can serve as a preventative measure to keep inflammation down so the gut stays healthy and happy.
