The thyroid does a lot of work behind the scenes to keep the body healthy such as maintaining a healthy metabolism, maintaining blood pressure as well as body temperature and heart rate. For anyone who doesn’t have a thyroid condition, it can be easy to forget about this important gland. 

Thyroid disease affects approximately 20 million people in the US and about 1 in 8 women (1). The two most common thyroid disorders are hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) and hypothyroidism (under-active thyroid).
